The Social Sciencs & Humanities (SSH)  in Vienna Programme was created within the framework of the 2008 innovation strategy of the City of Vienna called "Wien denkt Zukunft". After two programme periods and in total five larger project calls in three thematic areas, the programme, which was financed by means of the City of Vienna, was not continued.

Social Sciences & Humanities Call 2013 - Public Spaces in Transition

The call was open to projects on the topic of "Public Spaces in Transition". The research should deal with the meaning and the challenges of public spaces in transition, including material/physical places as well as symbolic, medial and cultural public spaces. The second central aspect of the thematic scope of the call is the political
dimension of public spaces in terms of democratic governance, participation and decision making.

The call aimed to address prjects and fellowships at the interface between science and the arts and that engage with the phenomenon and challenges of the interaction of scientific and artistic research and arts, respectively.

The aim of the followshops was to bring excellent persons  - be it scientists or artists - from abroad to Vienna to provide impulses to the further development and internationalisation of the field of art-based research.
