The tenth call in the “Vienna Research Groups for Young Investigators" programme in the field of "Information and Communication Technology - Interdisciplinary Data Science” is now open. This group shall strive to improve the understanding of substantial current scientific research questions in the field of data science that lead to applicable solutions in and together with other disciplines with potential medium term economic or social benefits. The ability to bridge disciplines is thus a key evaluation criterion. We also encourage new interdisciplinary combinations.

It addresses Vienna-based universities and research institutions that intend to hire an excellent young researcher from abroad for setting-up and managing of an independent research group. Active recruitment procedures are mandatory.

WWTF grants one position with up to € 1.6 million for six to eight years for the research group.

Please submit proposals online only by 2 pm, June 13, 2019.

Decisions are planned for December 2019. Hearings of selected candidates will take place in Vienna end of November / beginning of December 2019.

The second NEXT call addressed previously WWTF-funded researchers to develop a  concrete concept to transfer and spread the acquired scientific knowledge and project
results to a broader audience, who want to implement innovative activities which will allow the project to reach new stakeholders.

The possibility to apply is only open upon invitation for the WWTF project calls ICT15CS15LS16MA16 and Vienna Research Group Leaders from 2010-2016.

A total of € 200,000 are dedicated to this call. WWTF grants a maximum of € 50,000 per project.

Deadline for the submission was April 25, 2019. 12 proposals were submitted. Currently, the proposals are under review.

Der Wiener Wissenschafts-, Forschungs- und Technologiefonds (WWTF) startete am 14. Januar 2019 die Projekt-Ausschreibung im Schwerpunkt Life Sciences - Multimodal Imaging. Dies ist ein zweistufiger Call. Einreichschluss für Kurzanträge war am 04.04.2019 um 14 Uhr. 55 Kurzanträge wurden eingereicht. Vollanträge sind (auf Einladung) bis zum 08.08.2019 bis 14 Uhr einzureichen. 
 
Im Zentrum der Ausschreibung steht die Förderung innovativer, interdisziplinärer Forschungsprojekte, in welchen ForscherInnen aus zwei bis drei wissenschaftliche Disziplinen zusammenarbeiten. Der Call und ist mit 4 Mio. € dotiert. Das Fördervolumen pro Projekt liegt zwischen 200.000 € und 700.000 €.

Information and Communication Technology 2019 is the fifth project call within the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF) ICT Programme. It invites researchers and scientists at universities and non-university research institutions in Vienna, including those moving to Vienna, who want to conduct a multi-annual (2 to 4 years) cutting-edge research project in the field of ICT and its application in other fields. Projects should strive to improve the understanding of substantial current scientific research questions (disciplinary, interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary) in the field of ICT with potential medium term economic or social benefit. A total of € 5.5 million will be dedicated to this call. The funding range per project is € 200,000 to € 800,000.

The deadline for the submission of the short proposals was in January 2019. In total, 96 Short Proposals were submitted and 26 were selected by an international expert panel in a jury meeting in Vienna in mid-February.

The deadline for the invited applicants to submit a Full Proposal was May 16, 2019. The full proposals will no undergo a peer review process. The international jury will make the funding decision in the beginning of October 2019.
