Evaluation system

Evaluations underpinned by a clear concept are the standard procedure of any excellent research promotion scheme. The WWTF is a member of the Austrian Platform for Research and Technology Evaluation and complies with the Platform’s jointly developed standards for evaluation.

The WWTF evaluation system is designed to efficiently combine ex ante evaluation (i.e. selection criteria) with later evaluation steps at project level (i.e. interim and ex post evaluation). The framework of the evaluation system also covers the levels of individual projects and mechanisms as well as the Fund as an institution.

In October 2006, the WWTF Board decided to obtain an external evaluation of the Fund, its instruments and its funding activities, to be performed by an international review panel. This evaluation was carried out in 2008; and its results are publicly available since April 2008.
